The ranges
Four propeller architectures. One honest recommendation.
Most propeller companies must argue their one product suits every boat. Bruntons designs and manufactures all four architectures — so the recommendation you get is the right type for your boat, backed by the fitment database.
Autoprop
Self-pitching feathering propeller
The propeller for cruising and motor-sailing. Blades automatically find the efficient pitch for the load — typically 300–400 fewer RPM at cruise and up to 20% fuel savings over fixed pitch, with the same blade shape (and bite) astern as ahead.
- 2 & 3-blade · 330–750 mm
- Shaft & saildrive
- To ~350 hp
Autoprop Eco*Star
Electric & hybrid propulsion
Developed with the Insean research institute for electric drives, where propeller efficiency is the difference between a usable range and a dead battery. Regeneration-capable under sail on suitable installations.
- 115 electric fitments in our database
- Shaft & saildrive variants
Varifold
Low-drag folding propeller
For racing and performance cruising: blades fold to almost nothing under sail, then open instantly — ahead and astern — using inertia and hydrodynamic force. 2, 3 and 4-blade, engines from 20 to 750 hp.
- 2 / 3 / 4-blade
- 12–40 in diameters
- Shaft & saildrive
Custom & fixed propellers
Engineered case by case
Displacement motor vessels, commercial and classic boats — custom fixed propellers designed and cast to your drivetrain, up to three metres in diameter, backed by 150 years of British propeller manufacture.
- To 3 m diameter
- Commercial & naval heritage
